[ overview ]Discover the magic of the northern Alps as we walk from German-speaking Gsteig to French-speaking Ovrannaz on a fantastic trek through narrow passages and across glacial moonscapes.
The views from our hut the first night stretch from Mont Blanc in the west to the Matterhorn in the east. We’ll descend alpine meadows and a steep gorge to the hidden and mystic Lac de Derborence. After an evening relaxing by the lake, we traverse the virgin forests of the nature refuge to the foot of the Grand Muveran then descend to the village of Ovrannaz where hot springs and cold drinks await us.

CHF 4300 for group of 6
Price for a private trip for four people in two double rooms. Custom pricing for different group sizes is available depending on lodging availability.
Prices include professional guide, three nights lodging on the trail, three days’ breakfasts and dinners, local transportation between Aigle and the trailheads before and after the hike, light local snacks for hiking. Additional hiking food, alcohol, travel to Aigle and lodging before and after the trek are not included.

The hiking
The hiking on this trek is moderately strenuous. The first and third days have climbs of over 1000m elevation gain, with an option the first day to save 800m with a gondola. The second day involves a steep descent aided by ladders and chains for security. We’ll cover around 11km a day the first three days (less day 1 if we take the gondola) with a shorter descent to Ovrannaz the last day.
Food & Drink
We’ll eat family style at the huts each night. That usually means a soup, main course and dessert. They can accommodate standard dietary restrictions with advance notice. Breakfasts at the hut are simple and hearty. Beer, wine and spirits are available at each hut but are not included in the price of the trek.
