Values that add value
I’m fortunate to spend a lot of time in the mountains and villages of Switzerland. To make that time even more rewarding, I make safety, satisfaction and sustainability the foundations of every trip.
Safety
Safety first is not a cliché, it’s the way we roll. There are so many ways to have a good time in the mountains without getting hurt, and we’re going to enjoy a lot of them. We don’t need to take unnecessary risks. There are always risks when traveling in the mountains, and we can’t avoid or eliminate them all. My job is to make sure we’re aware of them, understand them and make decisions to keep everyone safe despite them.
Satisfaction
Your satisfaction brings me satisfaction. To me, satisfaction comes from getting back something as valuable or more than what we’ve put in. It comes out in smiles as we catch our breath at the top of a hill or in our sore legs on the train home reminding us we just showed up for the life we want to live. For every trip I lead, I get a similar satisfaction by making sure you leave feeling no doubt that what you got out was worth what you put in.
Sustainability
It’s not hard to do the right thing. It’s important to me to do what we can to take care of the places we love and to give back to the communities that give us so much. We’ll take public transport to and from the trailheads, eat local foods and stay in locally-run accommodations wherever possible, and we’ll be sure to leave no trace along the way. These are easy enough to do, very enjoyable in Switzerland, and they do make a difference.
